CNet one of the finalists in Open Stockholm Award

Our app AsthmaWatch has been selected as one of the finalists in the Open Stockholm Award contest. The purpose of the contest is to explore new ideas for services and apps to make Stockholm a more sustainable and environmental friendly city. Our AsthmaWatch app is built using Almanac Smart City IoT Enablers. The app uses air quality sensors and warns asthma patients about unhealthy environments. The final will take place in the Stockholm City Hall. 12 finalists have been selected from 220 submissions.

Almanac increases quality of life for Asthma patients in Stockholm Smart City

The city of Stockholm recently organised a hackathon to create solutions for innovative smart city services and applications based on available open data sources in Stockholm. CNet participated with a team of 4 developers using the Almanac Smart City IoT Enablers as a development tool. The result was two applications: one establishes the air quality by reading real-time values from air quality sensors around Stockholm, displaying them on a map. The other one, named AsthmaWatch, has more advanced features, enabling a user to blow in a lung capacity meter and checking the lung capacity against the air quality at the closest sensor to the user location, issuing an alert if the area is risky.

The app also checks with the user’s calendar for booked meetings during the day and predicts pollution at the meeting location, issuing warnings if problems might occur.

The AsthmaWatch solution uses the full solution of Almanac Smart City Enablers and more or less involves all aspects of Almanac. AsthmaWatch also integrates with the Swedish National Health Account and CNet’s own home monitoring solution; the LinkWatch ehealth cloud, demonstrating a federated cloud solution. The whole solution was created within less than one week and was very well received in the audience.

This is part of our innovation area Smart Cities and Infrastructures.

EnergyInBalance Solar Energy App Expands User Base

Our Solar Energy app marketed by the EnergyInBalance service has now reached 500 users with solar energy installations. The Solar Energy app uses Internet of Things technology to measure the ongoing energy production from a solar panel installation. The solar energy production is visualised in realtime in an iOS and Android smart phone appp. The EnergyInBalance Solar app also aggregates the total ongoing production from all available installations in Sweden and displays it in realtime to the users.

Succesful IoT Seminar

Together with Swedish Computer Society CNet gave a breakfast seminar on Innovation with Internet of Things. The seminar was well visited and also broadcasted over the web. The attendants were knowledgeable and there were lively discussions on how to integrate IoT into existing business systems to achieve process improvements.

CNet exhibits IoT Infrastructure Asset Management Solutions

We will participate and exhibit the results of our R&D project IoTBridge at the Eureka Innovation Week in Stockholm 26-27 April. Roads and bridges are critical infrastructures in a city. Repairs and maintenance work immediately effects the traffic situation. Manual inspections of road and bridge conditions are costly. These problems are tackled by the IoTBridge consortium in which CNet is a part. We are combining different types of sensors embedded into wireless sensor networks which exchange information utilising cloud technologies. Data on the use of bridges and status of various parts is analysed to optimise inspection intervals and maintenance to reduce the costs for upkeep and ensure safety. A first installation of the system is done at the new Årsta Bridge, a railway bridge in Stockholm. This is part of our innovation activitities targeting Smart Cities and Infrastructure Management.
