eGovernment
eGovernment is the application of ICT, organizational change and skills to Public Administrations in order to promote modernization and innovation in the public sector. RTD for applications of ICT in eGovernment is an emerging area, supported by the EU Framework programmes and a few national programmes.
CNet has assisted VINNOVA, the Swedish Agency for Innovation Systems, in designing a European project for the promotion and coordination of eGovernment RTD programmes. The eGOVERNET project started 1st January 2006 and will support the creation of national eGovernment RTD programmes, as well as stimulate the integration of existing national eGovernment programmes. The consortium behind eGOVERNET represents organisations with national programme responsibilities for innovation and research in eGovernment in their respective countries, including both the old and the new member states and associated states. The participants are the Czech Republic, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Slovenia and Sweden. A Joint Research Centre, brings a European level perspective to the consortium.The project is coordinated by VINNOVA.
