For the first time, batteries owned by Danish households and companies have provided ancillary services to the Danish grid operator, Energinet, through CheckWatt.
On 31 October 2025, the batteries delivered ancillary services, which entail rapid adjustment, either adding or reducing power to keep stability.
Usually, households cannot participate in the balancing markets due to their low volumes, but through pooling assets, CheckWatt aggregates many individual battery systems into a single virtual power plant, enabling participation.

CheckWatt is a spin-off company from CNet and Sweden’s largest independent aggregator of flexible energy sources.
